Capildeo3

Join us for the third session of this five part, fortnightly reading group conceived and led by Catalina Barroso-Luque, a Mexican artist based in Glasgow.

CCA Clubroom, Free, Monday 11 November, 6.30pm (finish approx 8.30pm).

The evening will include readings and discussion around an excerpt from Measures of Expatriation by Vahni Capildeo, a Trinidadian Scottish writer inspired by other voices, ranging from live Caribbean connections and an Indian diaspora background to the landscapes where Capildeo travels and lives.

The excerpt, pages 93-103, is a piece of prose-poetry that speaks about the complex alienation of the expatriate, finding solace in language and ‘not one particular language’. A copy of this can be accessed here.
