Winding Up Body
An extract from Rachel McBrinn’s Winding Up Body which was published on 17 April alongside the launch of her film Are you going my way? Both focus on Livingston New Town and its inhabitants
The Winding Up Body is comprised of 7 individuals with a connection to Livingston New Town: Chizu Anucha, Shirley Cameron, Diane Crompton, Rachel McBrinn, Jo Richardson, Dean Swift and Janet Wood. The group have worked as co-editors for the eponymous publication just published by McBrinn as part of a Rhubaba research project.
Here, they have annotated and redacted elements of the second reading of the New Towns Bill, which took place in the UK House of Commons on 8 May 1946. Rachel’s film Are You Going My Way? is screening on MAP from 18 April to 18 May. Alison Scott’s essay from the book is also published on MAP concurrently.
