Join us this Monday 25 November at 6.30pm in the CCA Clubroom to read from and discuss Bhanu Kapil’s Ban en Banlieue.

An April night in London, 1979, is at the core of this startling work. Ban en Banlieue follows a girl as she walks home from school in the first moments of a riot. By the end of the night, ‘she moves into an untethered presence to becoming all matter— soot, meat, diesel oil and force.’ Derived from performances in India, England and throughout the United States, Ban en Banlieue is written ‘at the limit of somatic and civic aims’. Bhanu Kapil has recently moved back to the UK and is author of five full-length works of poetry/prose.
